Sharon Hicks, MA, LPCC

Owner & Founder of Kintsukuroi Counseling

Relationships can be a source of tremendous joy and can also be the source of some of our greatest pain. Relational pain can be caused by a breakdown in connection over the course of years or in the wake of significant events such as life transitions, grief, attachment injuries, or personality differences. I specialize in helping couples navigate the difficult terrain of the here and now of their stories to the other side of hope, healing, and connection.

I am passionate about faith, family, and relationships. I specialize in working with committed couples who have experienced distress in their relationship due to difficult life circumstances, and help them find their way back to meaningful connection. I do this by providing a thorough assessment and utilizing research based methods to help quickly triage couples who are in crisis. Couples learn how to not just treat the symptoms of what may be going on relationally, but to identify a roadmap to engage in their relationship with a new understanding of what is blocking their emotional and physical connection, and to find their way back to safe connection that they long to experience.

My goal for clients is to help them engage in deeper and more meaningful ways with the things that matter most to them. My hope is that every individual and couple that enters my office feels seen and heard as they actively engage in the counseling process and explore their own unique story and passions. As we look below the surface level of often distressing emotions and behaviors, we begin to explore deeper underlying heart felt beliefs about self and others. I take the deep dive with my clients to difficult personal and relational spaces to help them shed light and hope into some of the most difficult and distressing experiences in their stories. We journey together towards wholeness, healing, restoration, and improved connection with the things and people that matter most to them.

When I am not in the office I enjoy playing Bach on the piano, sipping coffee with friends and getting new stamps in my passport as I travel with my husband and four children around the globe exploring this beautiful world. Having lived in south east Asia as a family for a season we were given the gift of becoming global citizens which has given me a bigger view of the world and informs my perspective on life.
