Katie Christy, MA, LPC

I understand counseling can feel like an intimidating process and recognize how extremely valuable it is to connect with the right professional. It is my goal during your treatment to bring as much comfort and healing to you as possible while ensuring during the initial stage of treatment that I am the best person to walk alongside you. From the very first point of contact, I assess the unique needs of each client to ensure I am a good fit for service while providing stabilization and clarity for next steps towards health and healing.

My perspective and philosophy is focused on helping clients see the “big picture” to facilitate a holistic approach which encompasses understanding how core beliefs impact current, active sources of distress. I have received training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a therapy modality which can be integrated with all ages and has the potential to not only resolve trauma experienced in the present, but also that which is woven into our past. My ultimate goal as your therapist will be to serve as a source of empowerment as you move toward self-realization and inner peace as you become equipped with the skills to navigate the twists and turns of life.

Some of my biggest passions include international travel and spending time in nature, ideally integrating the two within the same trip. I have had opportunities to volunteer abroad which provided incredible cross cultural exposure and a level of comfort in working cooperatively with those of different backgrounds than my own. I am ceaselessly fascinated by both the uniqueness of individuals and the many threads which unite us within the scope of the human experience.

Katie explains the concepts of EMDR and a case study of its effectiveness in treatment.
